Model Photoshoot, Amanda Ybarra by Diana Arreola

Sundays are made for cruising in the lowrider world and Sunday, January 13th, 2019 was perfect for a cruise downtown. I loaded the car up with all of my equipment and called up a few of my club brothers to join us for a shoot at the now closed down Spaghetti Warehouse in Downtown, Houston. I don’t usually shoot models but when I had the opportunity to work with Amanda I had to jump at the chance and I am so glad I did! This was Amanda’s first time posing professionally but you would never be able to tell from the photos. She was great to work with and was very patient as I experimented with new lighting equipment. Make sure you follow her on Instagram @ ___amanda__y. Shout out to my husband @mosthatedintx and my boys @gttimdog, @nix_kustoms, and Chris for bringing their rides out.

Mac Gregor Park Lowrider Picnic by Diana Arreola

It has become tradition for Lowriders all over Houston to head over to MacGregor Park on the first Sunday of every new year. So on January 5th, 2019 we packed up the family along with my camera and joined dozens of other clubs, solo riders and families for a day of cruising, relaxing and admiring everyone’s rides. There were so many nice rides out there and the weather was perfect. I had a great time shooting these pictures and catching up with friends. All of these photos are available for print so if you’re looking for some wall art let me know!

Texas Lowrider Council Show and Shine Picnic by Diana Arreola

The Texas Lowrider Council is a group of Car Clubs that have come together in order to unite and strengthen Houston’s lowriding culture. They have organized events that the whole family can come out and enjoy. Lowriding has always been about family and the Texas Lowrider Council is trying to unite all car clubs and solo riders into one big family. They hosted their first picnic of 2019 at Mason Park in Magnolia on January 5th, 2019. I had a great time catching up with friends and checking out everyone’s rides. It was pretty crowded so I wasn’t able to get as many photos as I would have loved to have gotten but I’ll share some of my favorites.

We also had a TV crew out in the park shooting a scene for a Netflix series called Muddy Waters. The show is based out of Houston, Tx. and has filmed with some of Houston’s finest lowriders a couple of times now. I was able to grab a few shots of them shooting the scene.

After the Show and Shine Picnic we were escorted through town by some of our very own Bikers. Shout out to them for keeping us all together and making sure the cruise went smoothly.

We cruised over to Talento Bilingue De Houston. Talento Bilingue De Houston’s mission is to educate all by preserving, presenting and promoting Latino Cultures through the performing, visual and literary arts. It was the perfect place to end our evening. They were very welcoming and we already have other events scheduled at the center in the future. Oldies Car Club will be hosting their 14th year anniversary there on Cinco de Mayo this year. They are planning a lowrider show in the day time followed by a dance in the evening with concerts both inside and outside so stay tuned for more details on that. Here are some of the photos I was able to shoot at the center.

I had a great time shooting these photos as always and I hope you enjoyed my first blog post! I plan to post on a regular basis so if you enjoyed this post please leave me a comment below and keep coming back for more.
